Abstract

This article extensively covers the strategic role of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the effective management, planning, and sustainable development of modern urban infrastructure. The main components of ITS - including automated traffic flow management systems, information and communication tools, monitoring and analysis modules - are described in detail. Their functional tasks, namely their role in the processes of collecting, transmitting, processing data, and making informed decisions in real-time, are analyzed from a technological perspective. The article also examines, through examples, significant achievements in preventing road accidents, improving traffic safety, preventing congestion, and ensuring environmental sustainability through ITS. The positive impact of ITS on the environment is substantiated through reducing fuel consumption in transportation, controlling harmful gas emissions, and ensuring optimal vehicle movement.
