Ways to determine and optimize traffic flow speeds under the real conditions of the street-road network
Abstract
This article thoroughly investigates the determination of a safe and economically optimal driving speed for vehicles, taking into account various factors such as road infrastructure, weather conditions, traffic density, and the physical condition of the road surface. The study analyzes the interaction between the physical and mechanical characteristics of roads, meteorological influences, and traffic flow parameters, offering recommended speed limits under different real-world conditions. These proposed speed limits are scientifically justified based on statistical data, real-life observations, and mathematical modeling methods, with a particular focus on their practical applicability. Additionally, the article reviews relevant international experiences and provides recommendations for their adaptation to local conditions. The findings of this research are expected to contribute significantly to improving road traffic safety, enhancing traffic flow management, and reducing transportation costs for both passengers and freight.
