This article discusses the issues of selecting optimal forecasting models in road freight planning. The selection of optimal forecasting models for the studied time series for road transport is carried out in two ways: In the first option, forecasting models are built based on dynamic series, and in the second, multifactor forecasting models are developed. Comparing the results of these options made it possible to determine whether forecasting using a multifactor model is closer to realistic results when choosing the optimal model.
