This article presents the results of studying the possibilities of switching reciprocating piston compressors to a cylinder-piston group lubrication-free operating mode. Lubricating compressors reduces the wear of the friction parts of the compressor and reduces energy consumption for friction, increases the tightness of piston rings and seals, and cools the friction surfaces of the drive mechanism. However, traditional lubricants in friction units are considered the most vulnerable, as lubricants become a source of increased risk due to the occurrence of explosive concentrations of organic substances. In addition, rare rare oils are required for compressor lubrication. Due to the formation of soot-oil layers on the cylinder casings and the walls of the cooler tubes, the cooling systems do not provide the necessary cooling of compressed air. In recent years, to eliminate these shortcomings, it has been proposed to switch piston compressors to a mode without lubricating cylinders and seals.
