Abstract

The article discusses the methodology of climatic zoning of arid regions of Uzbekistan in order to justify the choice of constructive and technological solutions for protecting railway embankments from sand drifts. Using the example of the Bukhara – Miskin railway line, a detailed classification of sections by degree of aridity (weakly arid, moderately arid, and strongly arid zones) is provided, based on climatic, geographical, and meteorological data. It is established that engineering zoning according to climatic criteria improves the accuracy of sand drift forecasting and allows for the adaptation of protective measures based on natural conditions. An algorithm for selecting protective structures, taking into account wind activity, sand granulometry, and precipitation levels, is proposed, which helps optimize design and operational decisions in a desert climate.
